Medical consultations, medication, hospital fees, etc. In Belgium, a large proportion costs relating to your health can be reimbursed by the social security system. Provided you are enrolled with a mutual insurance company. If you choose Partenamut Business & Expats, you will benefit from the reimbursements provided for by compulsory healthcare insurance (common to all Belgian mutual insurance funds), but also from a host of additional benefits.
Even with a mutual insurance fund, some costs can remain high: dental care, consultations with non-contracted doctors or hospitalisation in a single room. That is where our optional insurance (dental and hospitalisation) comes in: it supplements your protection to avoid unforeseen expenses and enables you to focus on your studies with peace of mind. With Partenamut Business & Expats, you choose the coverage suited to your situation, your budget and your needs!
In Belgium, all mutual insurance funds reimburse an identical proportion of your healthcare costs: this is compulsory healthcare insurance. But depending on the organisation you choose, you can also benefit from additional advantages specific to each mutual insurance fund, known as supplementary insurance.
With Partenamut Business & Expats, you benefit from over 70 additional benefits, including:

If you are studying in Belgium, registering with a mutual insurance fund will enable you to benefit from the public healthcare system. In fact, it is the mutual insurance fund that pays citizens the reimbursements provided for by the social security system, in particular for medical consultations or the purchase of certain medication. There are several mutual insurance funds, each with their own values and services.
To register, Partenamut Business & Expats is available by telephone, video call or e-mail. Your school can also advise you on the steps to take if necessary.
Compulsory healthcare insurance covers part of the cost of consultations, medication, examinations and hospitalisation. The amounts reimbursed are set by the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (NIHDI) and are identical for all mutual insurance funds.
Most mutual insurance funds also offer what is known as supplementary insurance, with additional benefits included in the amount of the contribution. Some also offer optional insurance, in particular to cover dental care or single room fees in hospital.
Yes. If you are a student from an EU/EEA country, the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) enables you to be covered during your temporary stay in Belgium. You are strongly advised to enrol with a Belgian mutual insurance fund on the basis of your EHIC, so that you can claim reimbursements directly in Belgium.
